Since I’ve been eating a whole lot healthier these days, my snack life has gotten a major overhaul. My favorite these days? Apples with nut butter!
I have a slight obsession with flavored nut butters – honey, maple, chocolate, vanilla… the list could go on! I currently have three jars sitting in my pantry: two sunflower seed butters (maple and honey) and one cashew butter (maple), and they’re almost gone. But what would happen if I was caught unaware, and ran out, and for whatever reason, I couldn’t get to the store? I shudder to think of it. But I am a resourceful woman, and I devised a plan to make my own, you know what I mean?
If you’re like me and love all kinds of nut butters, you’ll love how easy it is to make flavored ones yourself! The process is so simple, you’ll never have to worry about running out again. Of course, my favorite way to eat them is with apples, but you can spread this on toast (duh), slather it on bananas, mix it with popcorn to make popcorn balls… excuse me, my mouth is watering…
PALEO SPICED HONEY NUT BUTTER SPREAD
- 2 T Honey
- 1 c Nut Butter of choice
- 1 t Cinnamon
- Up to 3 T Coconut Oil – Optional**
- Add all ingredients into a bowl and mix until fully incorporated – that’s it!
**Once you’ve mixed your ingredients, you may decide you would like the butter to be a little “looser,” or easier to spread. If so, add melted coconut oil – one tablespoon at a time – until you reach your desired consistency. This may or may not affect the flavor and/or sweetness, and you may have to adjust accordingly.
When you’re not a food blogger, but you want to be one when you grow up (don’t mind my girl’s toys on the counter top – there isn’t a room or space in my home that doesn’t have at least one toy in it…) :
