But Where Have You BEEN…?

What in the world is so important that it keeps me away from this blog?

Is “real life” a good enough answer?

You know how social media is meant to help you share your life? Well, what if it BECOMES your life? I mean, yes, yes, yes, of course “becoming your life” is a bit of an exaggeration, but kind of not, when it came to blogging for me personally!

I found myself living and breathing blog business (or “busy-ness” as it turns out to be), to the detriment of my family. Late nights commenting on and reading every blog under the sun, writing, taking pictures of every little thing I could think of that might be used in a future post. It got to the point where I was always present, but never participating. I got tired of that. I got tired of being an observer of life instead of an active participant. I got tired of having to document my opinion and everything I was doing on Twitter, on Instagram, on Facebook, on this blog… UGH!  I didn’t want to do that anymore!

But Where Have You BEEN

So I decided to re-prioritize, which simply breaks down to this: I blog when I blog. I share when I share. No pressure, no watching stats, no worrying about this or that. And I’m more than okay with that. I hope you are okay with that! (I know what it’s like when you invest in a blog and want updates and it doesn’t happen.)

I suppose this means that my little blog baby isn’t going to be on any Top Thousand Best Blogs of All Time or a money maker, or blah, blah, blah, but who cares? I’m keeping blogging fun for me and the only way to do that is to keep the pressure off. So, here’s to priorities and keeping it fun around here!

  1. Just coming back from a giant blog break of my own (for what sounds like similar reasons). I needed a social media detox for sure!

    • Oh, Tori. I’m glad I’m not the only one! It’s been so nice to be away and not stressed over meeting deadlines and stuff – especially during the holidays!

  2. Oh yes!! I think I had this fight with myself almost every year for 9 years around the end of summer. This year however, something else bit me. The corporate america I ran from, jumped up and pulled me back in. I’ve been working full-time now since September and I’m SURE you’ve noticed crickets in my neck of the woods with my many blogs :-)

So yes, I blog when I blog, and comment when I can now. Truly is a blessing :-)

Definitely puts into priority who you want to comment on when you do ;-)

    • I don’t know how anyone can do a full time job, raise kids, AND take spectacular photos and write posts for their blogs – unless their blog is their job! I don’t notice the crickets on your blog because you have tons of amazing content already! You are amazing! You’re managing multiple blogs on top of real life and look, you’re commenting on MY blog! LOL! I love you! ;-)
