I am obsessed with HGTV. I love that I can live vicariously through those homeowners, pretending I live in their fabulous, newly remodeled homes. I also like the fact that I don’t have to wait around too long for a satisfying reveal.
The problem? My mind thinks I can do home reno on my own and that I can complete it within a thirty-minute time frame.
Renovate your kitchen? Hey, it only takes an hour!
Repaint furniture? Why sure! It’ll only take you half an hour from start to finish!
Buy a vacation home with a budget of a million dollars? Make it TWO!
Remodel your home, no sweat – there’s a team of experts ready to work for you!
When I tell you that it took me four days to peel wallpaper off of ONE large family room wall, I do not exaggerate. After that debacle (and tons of sweat, tears and fabric softener), I vowed to never, ever, ever again buy a home that required tearing down wallpaper. Or reno. Or me holding a paint brush. Or all the DIY things.
My question today:
Does watching HGTV or any kind of home/interior design show motivate you to take action or do you just sit back and “wish”?
