I’ve mentioned in previous posts that my family and I took a drive up to Northern California to be in a place so completely opposite of the desert.
Now, I don’t know about you all, but from observing my mom over the years, I have learned that over preparing is the way to go when traveling. And when I say over preparing, I mean in the Snack Department. Our car was so packed to the gills with snack items, you’d have thought we were a mobile grocery store!
In any case, my number one snack item for road trips (besides beef jerky) is the humble sunflower seed. Without sunflower seeds, my travels would be incomplete. Oh, and they must NOT be shelled, otherwise, what’s the point? The salt on the shell is what makes the experience of cracking and eating these seeds a meaningful one! If one finishes a bag of seeds and one’s lips aren’t white and puckered, then one has not lived correctly.
