The Travel Snack

I’ve mentioned in previous posts that my family and I took a drive up to Northern California to be in a place so completely opposite of the desert.

Now, I don’t know about you all, but from observing my mom over the years, I have learned that over preparing is the way to go when traveling. And when I say over preparing, I mean in the Snack Department. Our car was so packed to the gills with snack items, you’d have thought we were a mobile grocery store!

In any case, my number one snack item for road trips (besides beef jerky) is the humble sunflower seed. Without sunflower seeds, my travels would be incomplete. Oh, and they must NOT be shelled, otherwise, what’s the point? The salt on the shell is what makes the experience of cracking and eating these seeds a meaningful one! If one finishes a bag of seeds and one’s lips aren’t white and puckered, then one has not lived correctly.

As you can see, I’m passionate about this snack…

My question today:

What are you favorite snacks on the road?

  1. Northern California? I am in Silicon Valley. If your that close…contact me! In regards to my snacks on the road, I would have to pick Beef jerky. I just love having something small like that to chew on. My boyfriend and I find packing snacks prevents us from constant stops at the fast food restaurants.

  2. Sonia! Thank you so much for stopping by! I agree about the snacks keeping you from fast food – by the time we got finished with all the snacking, there was no room for any of the really bad stuff! LOL! Hope you're having a great Friday!

  3. I love sunflower seeds but the it gets messy when I try to drive. I do however love peanuts and gummy bears when I'm traveling. Why this combo? I don't know. Maybe the sweet and salty combination! Hi! I am your newest follower from MBC. Would love a visit and a follow back: http://blog.writerslairbooks.com. Thanks!
