The Shopping Bag (a.k.a. The Baby Whisperer)

All day.

All day long, Monkey was cranky and irritable. No amount of food, cuddling, or bouncing cured him of waking up on the wrong side of the bed.

Basically, I ran in and out of rooms chasing The Incredible Crying Monkey, I put him in / pulled him out of the crib, yada yada yada. I tried everything. EVERYTHING. And finally, at the end of the day, I let my tired, creative mommy brain take over…

Here is what finally brought peace to my house:

An old shopping bag, filled with toys

To the creators of the shopping bag: Thank you for the best invention ever created. It bought me twenty bliss filled minutes of cranky-free baby.

  1. I find a shopping bag full of things gives me much bliss, too. Retail therapy helps my crankiness! LOLWhatever it takes to make it through the day, right?Happy WW!

  2. OMG I need a bunch of those bags! My little man is teething, miserable, chewing everything in sight, and NEVER rests. Its crazy here! I'm going to pop out an old shopping bag and give it a try. Thanks for the idea!

  3. hahaahah. Funny how kids have every toy imaginable..and a shopping bag, or a cupboard full of pots and pans can entertain a baby/child for hours!I used to get the tupperware out and a wooden spoon out and they'd play all day long with them LOL.Blocks and cool toys.. heck NO! Tupperware and a wooden spoon and you have a blissful day.I LOVE MY BOYS! heh heh

  4. Love the last picture. My son carries around some of his fav toys in a small white shopping bag. Whenever he gets one with a gift in it, he keeps them. I had to recycle some that had worn out. It's amazing what keeps kids entertained. Thanks for sharing and take care. Happy WW!-Kiki

  5. Yes! And it's a great way to use up all the large baby gift bags that a person receives as well! Those babies just love the simple things in life, don't they?

  6. The Babies too, delight in shopping bags of all shapes and sizes. Except they esp. delight in ripping them to shreds and flinging them from one end of the house to the other.Bear would like to know if Biscuit would enjoy a virtual play date?

  7. Ah yes, the mystery of the shopping bag – I wonder what goodies are inside. My dad always used to say that kids got more fun out a box than they do from the toy inside and I have to admit, its still true in our house. Everytime I bring home a cardboard box it gets nabbed to make it into something!
